Arctic Hire — Cookie Policy

Last updated: 15 September 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how YAT Group Limited, trading as Arctic Hire, uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at arctic-hire.co.uk and our booking website at book.arctic-hire.co.uk.

It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we use personal information, who we share it with, how long we retain it and your data protection rights.

2. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small files stored on your computer, telephone or other device when you visit a website. They allow a website to retain information between visits or as you move between pages.

Similar technologies include browser storage, such as local storage and session storage, and tracking pixels or scripts that store or access information on your device. In this policy, we use “cookies” as a convenient term covering these technologies where relevant.

The rules are not limited to technologies labelled “cookies”. A tool described as “cookie-free” may still be subject to requirements concerning device access or personal information.

3. How we use cookies

Strictly necessary cookies

These support functions essential to providing the online services you request.

Depending on the page or service you use, they may maintain your booking session, support secure form submission, protect a requested payment process or remember your cookie choices.

We use these without requesting cookie consent where they meet the applicable legal exception. A cookie is not strictly necessary merely because it is useful to our business.

Strictly necessary cookies are not disabled through our optional cookie controls. You can block them through your browser, but doing so may prevent some requested services from working.

Functional or preference cookies

Optional preference cookies can remember choices that make later visits more convenient, such as a saved website setting.

Where we provide these optional features, our approach is to request consent before using their cookies.

This is separate from temporary storage genuinely needed to carry out a request you have already made, such as maintaining your equipment selection while you complete a booking.

Analytics cookies

With your consent, we use optional analytics technologies, including Google Analytics 4, to understand how people use our websites and where improvements are needed.

This may involve information about pages visited, interactions with forms or booking pages, referral sources, browser and device characteristics, and identifiers used to distinguish visits.

Analytics information does not necessarily identify you by name, but device identifiers and associated activity may still constitute personal information.

Our approach is to obtain consent for these optional analytics technologies, rather than assume that all analytics qualify for an exemption. The statutory exception for certain statistical uses is limited and does not cover every form of visitor tracking.

Advertising and conversion-tracking cookies

With your consent, we use advertising measurement technologies, including Google Ads conversion tracking, to understand whether advertising results in enquiries or bookings.

These technologies may connect an advertising interaction with a later action on our website using campaign information or identifiers.

We do not classify advertising tracking as strictly necessary to make a booking. Device storage or access used for advertising measurement requires consent, even where its purpose is measuring results rather than showing personalised adverts.

Any additional use for personalised advertising or remarketing will be explained in our cookie information before it is enabled, with the appropriate choice provided.

4. Third-party services

Some technologies are provided by other organisations, including the analytics and advertising services identified above.

Where you use a Stripe payment service, its checkout or payment components may also use technologies for payment functionality, security and fraud prevention. Any optional analytics or advertising technology associated with a payment service must be assessed separately; being supplied by a payment provider does not automatically make every cookie strictly necessary.

The cookie inventory in section 5 identifies the relevant providers, purposes and durations for technologies used through our websites.

Some providers may also process information for their own purposes. Their privacy information explains those activities. Our Privacy Policy explains our wider information-sharing arrangements and international transfers.

Using a third-party tool does not remove our responsibility for the technologies we choose to incorporate into our websites.

5. Cookie inventory and duration

Some cookies are session cookies, which normally expire when your browser session ends. Others are persistent cookies, which remain for a defined period unless deleted earlier. Browser behaviour can affect how long information remains available.

6. Your cookie choices

You can use our cookie banner to accept optional cookies, reject optional cookies or manage your preferences.

Optional categories are switched off until you choose to enable them. Continuing to browse, closing the banner or accepting our Terms of Hire does not, by itself, give cookie consent.

You can revisit your choices through Cookie settings, accessible from our website footer. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. When you withdraw, we stop the relevant consent-based storage and access, remove the associated cookies that we control and communicate the withdrawal to relevant providers where required.

Rejecting optional cookies does not prevent you from browsing equipment, requesting a quote or making a booking.

Your choices normally apply to the browser and device you are using. You may need to make them again on another device, after clearing browser storage or when a previous preference expires.

Where a separate choice is needed on our booking website or an external payment page, it will be presented there. Moving from one website to another is not treated as permission to enable additional optional tracking.

7. Browser settings and deleting cookies

Your browser may provide controls to view, block or delete cookies and other website storage.

These provide additional control, but they do not replace the choices offered through our own cookie settings.

Deleting browser data can also remove your saved cookie preferences, so you may see our banner again. Blocking all cookies may interfere with services that rely on strictly necessary storage.

Where information has already been collected, its further use and deletion are governed by applicable data protection requirements and the arrangements described in our Privacy Policy. Contact us with any questions about that information.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our websites, providers, technologies or purposes change.

The current version will be available on our website with its update date. We will also update the cookie inventory when relevant technologies change.

Where a change requires fresh consent, we will obtain it before starting the relevant activity. Updating this policy alone does not constitute your consent.
